Semantic web integration of gene structure and protein structure information
Most mammalian genes have more than one
splice form. Alternative splicing can yield a variety of
protein products from a single gene, with the proteins differing
in amino acid sequence, domain composition, and subcellular
localization. This talk illustrates how semantic web technologies
can integrate information on protein structure, splice variation,
and tissue expression, revealing knowledge on how the splicing
regulation of a gene modulates the gene’s function.
